Henry D. Blatchley, Caldwell pioneer and College of Idaho trustee for 45 years, was born March 2, 1854, in Ohio. Mr. Blatchley came to Caldwell February 14, 1884, where he was a con�nuous resident for 52 years. He took training in medicine and in pharmacy in Cincinna� before coming to Caldwell, where, in partnership with George Li�le, he established a drug store on Main street. He sold the store in June, 1904, a�er being 20 years on Main street. The land on which the college now stands was taken as a desert claim by Mr. Blatchley. He gave the original 20 acres for the campus to the college in 1891 and became an un�ring worker for the development of the school.
